well, as i found out that nowadays there are really good copied of the xd design bobby backpack, and good as in they copy everything up to the verification code itself (of course the verification code fails and tells you its been verified before), but yeah, a lot of sellers are claiming it to be original as when you key in the verification code, it shows a “tick” green sign (well xd design website should really revise that verificator as its confusing), saying that the code was successful but it has been verified before.
What does that mean, well, it basically means that someone else already keyed in the code many times and by right, the code when newly scratched should be unique and nobody else knows the code except for you. So, if lets say you bought it from the original/authorized reseller, it should tell you along the lines of Congratulations, you have the original bobby backpack, and NOT “blah blah blah, this code has been verified before, please check with your dealer”. Also, do note that when you buy from authorized reseller, the code even after keying in second time, it should still tell you its original.
back to “how’ to verify its original. well, the fake bobby backpack seems to be 99% similar to the original but i noticed there are still some differences if you have the original to compare.
i’m putting up a guide here for everyone, to be more wary of fake bobby backpacks, as nowadays, its hard to tell them apart if you don’t have the original. you may take this guide as a grain of salt…
1. the most identifiable trait for the bobby backpack is at the tag itself. If the tag is still there of course, look for the features tag (with the anti-thief picture), and look for the word “additional”. If it spells additonal (note the missing i between t and o), its basically a wrong spelling…….
2. the display of the verification code, as the code has been verified countless times before by other people. note the “green tick”, but it says the code has been verified before. I tried to verify my original twice, and it still shows “Congratulations, you have bought the genuine XD Design product. Thanks for your support“
3. the side pocket at the shoulder strap, should have a little hole going down, as in to insert the card into the hole, and push it down. If it only has a card to insert, it will easily drop. But for the original, once you insert it in, you can push it down to avoid it dropping.
4. the zipper behind the bag, the little compartment, should have a cover, to avoid people finding the zipper. please see pic for easier reference.
